Industrial Bar Stool Switch Up

This past Tuesday (7/3/12) marked the 4 year anniversary of me closing on my current home, which is truly unbelievable. I usually spend my time thinking about future projects, so I have to remind myself of just how much I have already done here.

For example, here is my kitchen immediately after moving in-

Since then, our small kitchen space has received a mini-makeover, including: new light fixture, painted pantry door, chalkboard wall, new art, new decor, upgraded sink and faucet, new bar stools and new rug.

This is the kitchen as of December 2011:

Although we enjoyed the comfort of the new bar stools, they seemed too large for the space. Check out how far they stick out-

I was convinced that industrial bar stools would be perfect. A quick Google search gave me a few options:

1. Restoration Hardware
Loved these but the $319 price tag (each) was a bit way over budget.

2. JC Penney
The $60 price was certainly right, but it felt a little too plain to us.

3. Amazon
These were our top contender, but for $145 each, I just couldn't quite bite the bullet. I knew if I waited long enough, I would surely find a deal somewhere else.

If you follow me on Facebook, then you probably saw this pic I shared last weekend-
I wondered into Gordmans on a whim and was taken back at these awesome stools. They were priced at $80/each, but I had two 20% off coupons in hand, so it brought them to $64. I thought they resembled the Restoration Hardware ones we loved but were a whole-heck-of-a-lot less. Score.

I love that that up so much less visual space than the old ones. They also had a fun, interesting texture to our kitchen. Simply put, they feel more like us.

Gordmans is one of those stores that you have to dig through a bit and that changes their inventory very frequently, so if you find something you like snatch it up. It may not be there when you get back. I have some amazing steals there though.

Hope you had a lovely Fourth of July! Yikes, it was hard to get up for work this morning...

  1. Those bar stools look like they were meant for the space. Perfect! Gordmans is one of my favorite stores and I especially love their 20% coupons :)

    1. I forgot how great they store is for home decor. They definitely have lots of ZGallerie-inspired pieces. The coupons are awesome:)

  2. I've never heard of that store! The stools look awesome in that space, definitely a great choice!

    1. Hmm, maybe Gordmans isn't national? It's basically a discount department store full of cheap finds. Thank you so much, we really love them:)

Do the bar stools have a brand name? I have been looking for something like that, without the Resoration Hardware price tag. Unfortunately, we don't have Gordman's in TX. Rats!

  6. What I love about the bar stool is their cute shape. I really don't know, but whenever I am sitting to our bar stool it cause me to feel good and be positive. Bar stool is one of my favorite chairs in our house because it gives me an atmosphere of coolness. Since every home is different, you need a bar stool that matches your style and decor. Bar stools are made with a sturdy wooden frame. However, some bar stools come with metal frames, which is increasingly popular. Seat and back material may consist of blended leather or other high-quality upholstery.
