2011 Designer Showcase House

Every year since I was a little girl, I have attended the Designer Showcase House. It was my mom and my's ritual every Mother's Day. Now that she is gone, I continue to attend and always feel that she is there touring with me in spirit. Each year, a different home is selected and different local designers redo each room. It is a fantastic source of inspiration and this year was one of my favorites of recent years. It is open for the public to view from April to May and the proceeds benefit the Kansas City Symphony.

Here's a couple of my favorite rooms (being an old house, it was made of MANY smaller sized rooms)

I loved the sun room the best. The colors were gorgeous!

The antique birdcages and other flea market finds lined the ceiling.

Next up was the magnificent kitchen. Look at the painted ceiling. Genius! I don't usually like pot racks, as I think they make the space look cluttered, but this streamlined one works perfectly in here.

The custom backsplash was jaw dropping as well.

This sitting room was a perfect blend of elegance and comfort.

Now, the formal dining room made me want to run home and redo my dining room...again. The volunteer tour guide described this room as springtime in Paris. I call it perfection.

I seriously adored all the light fixtures throughout the home.

All in all, it was a great tour!
