For as long as I can remember, my mom and I would spend Mother's Day going out to brunch and then touring the Designer Showcase House, a benefit for the Kansas City Symphony. (I got my love of design from her.) Every year, a mansion was selected as the showcase house and selected designers would decorate every room in the house. It's a great way to learn about new local designers and to gather ideas for your own home. I've kept up the tradition even though my mom is gone and hope to bring my own daughter someday.
This year I was unable to go on Mother's Day but was able to attend the 'Jazz and Martini Night' on Thursday.
Here's some pics of the statuesque home...
The kitchen was my favorite room in the house.
This little nook off the kitchen was so adorable and functional.
Some detail shots:
No detail was left unturned, the pattern of the accent backsplash was even etched on the kitchen sink.
I didn't get a great picture of the dining room, as there were too many people. However, the black ceiling was very dramatic, as was the $8,000 crystal chandelier.
This was the sitting room off the entry.
The solarium off the sitting room.
The landing at the top of the stairs was just perfect. Unfortunately, the pic came out a little dark:(
Thought this butterfly mirror was adorable in the kids bathroom.
Second favorite room in the house was the master bedroom/bathroom. The room was designed by HGTV's Season 3 Design Star winner and Kansas City's own Jennifer Bertrand. She hand painted the wall designs.
Love the wall-mounted faucet.
We finished the tour with cake and cocktails!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! They always go way too fast...
